Rather than just make a product that will carry photo gear, Martin Billingham has taken into account both comfort as well as accessibility, while at the same time incorporating traditional English styling and design.

Manufactured out of Cordura 500, texturized, multi-filament material, which feels like brushed cotton, the Billingham PhotoVest will provide years of rugged use. This material is supple and quiet, extremely important when noise must be kept to a minimum.

Starting from the bottom up, the exterior of the vest has four large (7 x 9 inches) equipment pockets (two on either side) all closed with zip pulls and covered by a generous cloth flap. These pockets can easily carry spare camera bodies, as well as motor drives or spare lenses. In addition, the top pockets are roomy enough to carry lenses of up to eighteen (18) inches in height when inserted vertically.

At chest-height, two (2) "hidden" pockets on either side of the vest will accommodate just about any size zoom lens. These horizontal pockets are 10 inches in length, and are deep enough to prevent gear from falling out of the vest while " on-the-run ". In addition, two concealed zip compartments also running horizontally, and measuring nine (9) inches in length can store gear, which might not be used immediately. As well, the exterior has two protected front flap pockets, which will hold press credentials, wallet, etc. Two (2) pen slots are positioned on either side of the main center zipper. Two (2) Stainless Steel eyelets are secured to the vest for tying on light meters, etc. More than just fashionable, epaulettes on both sides of the PhotoVest have two position snaps for securing camera carry straps. The padded semi-shawl collar is comfortable and prevents chafing while carrying a heavy load.

A heavy-duty zipper closes the vest, and a secondary snap tab, right at under-chest height allows the photographer to keep the vest closed while allowing for increased airflow. This closure tab secures on the inside of the vest, as opposed to the outside, to prevent the accidental opening of the vest in case a camera strap brushes against it.
