Dan Bannister is hosting his Art of the Portrait workshop in support of the Ride to Conquer Cancer at his Calgary studio. This is a one day workshop focused on helping you learn the techniques, skills and equipment to produce stunning professional portraits.

You'll spend a day in the studio working with models and professional lighting equipment to improve your portrait skills and expand your photographic knowledge. Starting with the basics, Dan will walk the group through a series of exercises designed to help you learn the skills necessary to create interesting images of people using progressively more complex lighting arrangements and coaching you through problems as the day progresses.

This is a hands on workshop where you'll be using your own camera equipment as well as Dan's personal lighting gear throughout the day. The only thing you need to bring with you will be a digital SLR and your personal lens selection. The workshop is designed for advanced amateurs so, to get the most out of the day, you should know how to operate your DSLR in manual mode.

The cost for the session includes lunch. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the 2012 Enbridge Ride To Conquer Cancer, benefitting the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Once you've signed up, Dan will contact you directly with directions to his Calgary studio as well as answer any questions you may have.

Dan Bannister is a Calgary based commercial, travel and stock photographer. Dan shoots everything from annual reports for some of the largest companies in North America to highly produced commercial stock for companies like Getty Images and Corbis to travel stock and features for newspapers and magazines worldwide.

This full day workshop is limited to only 12 people and last year sold out well in advance of the date so, get your tickets early.
