Photoshop Foundation is aimed at beginner and intermediate Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users. The class is limited to six people and takes place in a dedicated computer lab in Canmore. Students will each have their own computer with Photoshop CS4. Detailed notes and a CD with examples are also provided.
Richard is an enthusiastic and experienced Photoshop instructor. This 12 hour class offers excellent value for money and is often booked months in advance.
The first day is dedicated to learning how to use the tools on the toolbox and participants will be given fun exercises in which they can experiment with the essential tools.
On the second day we will look at more advanced techniques such as using layers, Levels and Curves adjustment layers and masks.
Some of the subject matter covered:
• Selection tools. Using each selection tool individually. How to use the selection tools collectively to make a complex selection.
• Changing image size. Relationship of pixel dimensions, resolution and document size.
• Introduction to layers. Scaling, rotating and other layer transformations.
• Colour models, colour working spaces, and how they relate with printing.
• Tips on producing consistent, high quality prints.
• Curves and Levels. How to adjust brightness, contrast, colour and saturation without disturbing the pixels of the original image.
• Preferences, setting up Photoshop so that it’s much easier to use.
• Short cuts, making Photoshop quicker and maximising screen space.
