Photokina Photo Galleries
One of the things I like most about the Photokina trade show is the photo galleries.
It's a reminder about why we are in this business. Most of our trade shows have a small gallery of pictures and the individual booths have great images that their products had some part in creating but Photokina makes a real effort to display images, in ten galleries many with multiple exhibits.
I stumbled across an exhibition organized by the Japanese Professional Photographers Society and sponsored by Tamron
It's called Post-Tsunami, Ikiru: We Survive.
A poignant photo essay of life before, during the terrible moments, and after what they call the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011.
For most of us we saw the images and video of the Tusnami in the news for a week and the drama of the events at Fukushima unfolding.
These are images that were made buy photographers that live and work in this area and have documented life there for many years and witnessed the events of March 11, 2011 and the relief efforts and rebuilding.
