The Leica Akademie is coming to Calgary!
Leica Akademie will be in Calgary April 19th and 20th, 2013.
Leica M cameras have been synonymous with classic street photography ever since the first Leica M was brought forth in 1954. This program explores the history, techniques and essence of this great tradition. Classroom discussion and practical ,hands on instruction will provide inspiration to experienced M photographers, and a solid introduction for those trying a rangefinder for the first time.
The two-day course provides both morning and afternoon shooting sessions, and topics will include a comprehensive discussion on techniques and tips for shooting effective street images, selecting the right equipment, understanding the hyper-focal distance scale, shooting from the hip, and more. The program will also include a review of the pictures taken, and conclude on the final evening with an entertaining, thought-provoking slide show of the images shot during the two days.
The $349 program fee includes two days of Leica Akademie instruction and lunch. Each student will also receive a $150 voucher that can be used toward the purchase of a brand new serial numbered Leica M product from The Camera Store which is a North American Leica Dealer.
Leica Akademie Instructor: Quinton Gordon
Quinton Gordon is a photographer, educator, printmaker and publisher who now makes his home in Victoria, BC, along with his partner Diana and their daughter Molly. He is happiest when wandering the streets of an unfamiliar city, working on a long term project, or at home in his studio making books. Quinton's first handmade monograph, Mile Zero: A Place Uncertain was released by Reciprocity Editions in May 2012. His award winning images have featured in numerous national and international exhibitions, collections and publications including Canadian Geographic, National Geographic Adventure, Action Asia and more, as well as in projects for aboriginal, corporate, government and non-governmental clients in the UK, the United States, New Zealand, and Canada.
Quinton is an instructor with the Leica Akademie North America, as well as offering independent photographic workshops and seminars nationally and internationally.
