The Perfect Photo Daypack: The Lowepro Flipside Sport AW
Summer is just around the corner which means it is time for photo hikes, festivals and a whole lot of sunshine. Since my goal is to get out as much as possible this year, I thought a new, lighter photo daypack would serve as some great motivation to keep my camera with me.
When I started looking at the current bags available, I realized that there are way more options than I could possibly imagine. I have to admit that I am bit of a collector when it comes to gear bags. I not only have one for almost every purpose, I have also developed a tall wish list for the perfect pack.
One of the backpacks that Lowepro just brought out is the new Flipside Sport AW. I picked out the 10L version in royal blue because the size and shape caught my eye. After taking it out a few times, I think I may have actually found the nearly perfect photo daypack for me. The shape is sleek and provides great access to my gear from the side opening when the bag is rotated to the front. The main zipper on the back side of the case makes me feel secure, especially in crowds at music festivals or other outdoor events. I also like that it is customizable on the inside. It can be used as a gear bag or I can remove the camera compartment to make it a regular daypack shell. It even has space for a 1 Liter water pack.
Although I don’t usually like to lug a tripod or monopod around with me on day trips, the Flipside has Lowepro’s secure tripod attachment system. For now, I use this space to hold a rolled up lightweight jacket. One thing that separates this pack from any other I have used is the mesh strap system with breathable padding. It is also covered in fabric that is designed to wick the moisture away from your body which helps keep you dry and cool. It also has water resistant protection with a storm-flap closure to keep your gear protected.
I just love this pack and I am excited to make it my official day-trip bag for all my new summer adventures!
