Banff National Park Sping Tour Wrap Up
Banff National Park is one of the best places on earth to capture stunning landscapes. Last Sunday a group of 10 participants were guided by professional photographer Brian Merry to capture incredible scenery and wildlife. The group was lucky to come across elk, coyotes grizzly bears, mountain sheep and other interesting wildlife from the Banff area. Here was some of the comments and images from the participants:
“The workshop was a great time! Brian has tremendous knowledge of Banff National Park and where to go for landscape, sunset and to find wildlife. You know when you start the day by seeing a grizzly right away, that you are in for a treat! We saw countless Elk, Sheep, some more Grizzlies, Coyotes and some incredible scenery.” - Chad
“It was a beautiful day, filled with a mix of weather, so typical for this time of the year in the mountains. The beauty of where we live is special. Hard to even find the words to adequately express it.” - (Read this complete review and view images from Matt Palmer)
“This is my second workshop in Banff National Park with Brian Merry. He is very knowledgeable about the Park and took us to great locations for landscapes and wildlife viewing. Brian's lens, exposure, filter, and composition suggestions are helpful and based on his extensive experience. We were fortunate to enjoy the opportunity to shoot grizzlies, elk, big horn sheep, and coyote. I thoroughly enjoyed the day as I did the first workshop in March.” - Ellen
"The Banff Workshop was a resounding success for me. I had registered some time ago and was keenly looking forward to the "adventure". It was worth every penny. Brian was great, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Full marks for him. We are so lucky to have had such a great opportunity in such a beautiful location. Thanks to Brian and Thank to the Camera Store for making this happen. Kudo's." - Darwin
Brian Merry is also hosting an overnight tour in beautiful Lake O’Hara in September. For these, and other great events we offer, visit our events page.
Here is a message from Brain Merry to the group:
I just wanted to drop a note to everyone that came on the workshop to say thanks for joining me! We had an amazing day photographing 4 grizzly bears, deer, a cooperative coyote and so many bighorn sheep and elk with their antlers in velvet that we all agreed to not bother stopping to photograph them near the end of the day so we can squeeze in a few stops for landscape photography.
It’s easy to say we got lucky but the truth is we worked well together as a team to stay efficient visiting the locations during the day that I knew were good for wildlife and landscapes based on my 16 years of experience of living and photographing in Banff. Our great success is due to us all working well together. I want to tip my hat in thanks to you all for being a great group.
I’m planning the Lake O’Hara trip to hopefully be as successful when we will be focusing solely on the world class fall landscapes that Lake O’Hara is famous for. That workshop has all the ingredients to be a success as well. We have an exclusive booking of the Elizabeth Parker Hut and I’ve hired a 20 year backcountry lodge chief and porters to cater to us and transport our gear back and forth to the hut so we can maximize our time photographing the beautiful landscapes while we’re there. I hope you can join me on Sept. 8 & 9, 2012 for that one too.
