Nature in Focus Photography Competition Overall Winner: Walter Nussbaumer
This year's overall winner for the 7th Annual Nature in Focus Photography Competition is "Courtship" by Walter Nussbaumer from Calgary, Alberta
"The Calliope Hummingbird is the smallest of the North American Hummingbirds, photographed at The Bull River Guest Ranch in southeast British Columbia, which is a hot spot for Calliope, Rufous and Black-Chinned hummingbirds in early spring.
The display by the male Calliope lasts for only a few seconds. And sounds somewhat like an angry wasp in a paper bag. While photographing the female Calliope at a feeder, I heard the familiar sound and when I looked to see where it was, I found that he was beside the female, as she backed away to face him I managed to get the image."
