The Mod Cap Saver

I often find it a struggle to keep track of my lens caps when I am busy shooting. Whenever I lose a lens cap, I always promise to myself that I will try harder to keep track of it, so I don’t have to fork out more money on replacements. Luckily, I have found the perfect solution, the Mod Cap Saver. Not only is the Mod Cap Saver the answer to the question “Has anyone seen my lens cap?”, it is also a very cool way to add some personality to my gear.

All D-SLR cameras look virtually the same, so it is refreshing to be able to find something that helps distinguish mine from the rest. Mod Cap Savers come in many different designs including happy faces, stars, skull and cross bones, jewel flowers and more. So far, I have the metal star and the happy face. I keep my happy face cap saver on my standard lenses and the metal star cap saver on my telephoto lens. When my lenses are in my bag, I am now able to figure out which lens to grab faster, because I know which cap saver is on which lens.

The best thing about the Mod Cap Saver is the fact that I have not lost a lens cap since I starting using them. Each decorative Mod Cap Saver disk attaches to the lens cap with a sticky adhesive pad. An elastic band wraps around the barrel of the lens, connecting it to the lens cap. My only beef with using a cap saver is the fact that the lens cap dangles around when shooting. I have been getting used to this, and would rather have a bit of annoyance than lose another lens cap.
