The Many Faces of the Joby Gorillapod

focus.jpg

The original Joby Gorillapod allowed me to attach a compact camera to just about anything by wrapping the three flexible legs around an object. The Gorillapod can now attach a variety of digital devices to just about anything and it has some new impressive abilities.

I think that the most impressive Gorillapod is the Focus. The Gorillapod Focus can hold up to 5 kg, which means that it can support a pro D-SLR or video camera without weighing me down or taking up too much space in my gear bag. It is the ultimate travel companion. When shooting in the park or forest, I just choose the height that I want my shot at, and simply attach the Gorillapod to a sturdy branch. I especially love using it with the Joby Ballhead X, which is designed specifically for the Focus, to offer even more flexibility. I was impressed that this ball head has two individual knobs that allowed me to tilt and pan independently.

Another new Gorillapod is the magnetic version of the original. It has flexible legs that allow you to secure your camera to virtually any surface with the added bonus of having magnetic feet for metallic surfaces. The quick-release clip is also handy when you are in a hurry, because it allows instant setup.

The Gorillatorch is one of the latest must have devices from Joby. It is the ultimate hands free flash light, because it can attach to anything just like the Joby Gorilla Pods. I am looking forward to using it camping. It will be great for times when I need both hands to assemble my photo gear in the dark.

Overall Joby has created a very versatile product for cameras, mobile devices and flashlights. I love products that allow unlimited creativity, and Joby has certainly achieved this. Click here for more information about Joby Gorillapods or the Joby Gorillatorch.
