Futurism touched many art forms, among which photography is the least explored. Rejecting pictorialism, the Futuristsn produced photographs that can be considered as documents of the avant-garde activism of the early part of the twentieth century or emblematic images of the mythology of the Futurist revolution, as well as works of art in their own right. At first they considered the camera capable of producing only static images that were at odds with the dynamism and immediacy they held so dear. But their interest in the culture of the experimental sciences led them to engage with scientific photography, which used multiple exposures and superimposed negatives to capture the spirit of energy and movement.
