More often than we might think, we find ourselves in a position of extreme vulnerability where we’re completely at someone’s mercy -- at the dentist, on the treatment table, in the gym. Consciously or otherwise we sense the danger, knowing we’ve ceded control of the situation, and our reactions are highly revealing. The ambiguities of these insecure and potentially perilous moments are explored in this brilliantly original sequence of photographs -- a woman in a beauty clinic who could be anesthetized, a man so wrapped up in a video game that he might be deep in prayer.
