Deserves More Attention

By: Garth
This lens is in most respects the ultimate walk-around/travel lens for DX users who don't want to carry extra gear but is seldom mentioned in the photo press. It's extremely sharp at all settings and has no significant flaws. It's sharp enough for the images to withstand a good deal more enlargement than what you could get away with using a lesser lens (such as the popular 18 - 200 mm). It's small and light. If there is a downside it's the rather slow F/5.6 at the long end. Given the specs it might seem a bit pricey but you are getting largely uncompromised optics.
