This workshop will teach you how to capture the best possible images after dark. The world takes on a whole new dimension under the night sky and trying to capture what you can (or can’t) see requires some different techniques than what you would use during the daylight hours.

This workshop will begin with a meet and greet and pre-shoot over view. We will make sure everyone knows how to find the necessary buttons/dials/modes on their camera before we head outside. We will also go over some techniques in the classroom such how to focus in the dark.

Once outside, we will be putting theory into practice. We will work on the technical aspects of shooting after dark as well as composition and light painting techniques (Low Level Lighting will primarily be used). For those that are interested in staying up way past their bedtime, we may finish with a star trail, skies permitting.

Recommended Items: Tripod, intervalometer or remote trigger, fast and wide angle lenses, extra batteries and memory cards, headlamp, flash light, snacks, warm layers, hand/toe warmers, thermos with a hot drink.
Note: If possible, please bring a headlamp or light with a dimmer setting to minimize effects on night vision and unintentionally casting light in shots.

When: Saturday, November 10, 2018 - 7:00PM-midnight

Location: Elevation Place - 700 Railway Ave, Canmore, AB
We will be meeting at Elevation Place for the class room portion. The field location will be announced closer to the workshop date and will be dependent on snow, frozen lakes and sky conditions.
