Join us for a day in the field with award winning nature photographer Joe Desjardins. Joe will cover all the basics to get you on your way to photographing the Alberta landscape.

An outdoor classroom session will be held before heading out, including tips on perfecting exposure, focusing, composition, light and filters.  Joe will also discuss what’s in the gear bag and how he uses it! Bring a folding chair for this portion of the workshop. 

You will leave this workshop with a better understanding of camera settings along with some essential tips on how to capture the unique Alberta.

When: Saturday May 19th, 2018 Noon-Sunset 

We will be meeting at Barrier Lake in Kananaskis and finish at Spillway Lake for a sunset shoot on the Smith-Dorrien Spray Lakes Trail. (Note: on our travels to other locations, if we spot wildlife, we will be stopping for a few photographs! So, bring a long lens if you have one!)

* This workshop includes approximately 3KM of light hiking. 

What to bring:
All your lenses and any filters you have
Accessories such as: cable release, hotshoe mounted spirit level
Meals, snacks and water
Folding chair
Rain/snow gear

About the instructor:
Award-winning and nationally published photographer Joe Desjardins has garnered multiple national accreditation via the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC). His images span a wide variety of disciplines including equine, landscape, nature, wildlife and more. Joe has also garnered the designation of Master Photographer (MPN) in Nature Photography with MPIO, Masters Photographers International.

For nearly three decades, Joe has been a wildlife and nature photographer. His photographic career began working in a photography studio in Northern Ontario, Canada. Growing up in Northern Ontario afforded him the opportunity to learn his craft while exploring the outdoors, making the niche a natural fit.

Today Joe works as a professional photographer out of the Calgary, Alberta region, focusing mainly on environmental portraiture, equine, wildlife and landscape photography. He also spends his time sharing knowledge through teaching, workshops and speaking engagements.
