Fly Further
Insidethe Mavic’s pocket-sized remote controller is DJI’s brand new OcuSynctransmission technology, with a range of 4.3mi (7km) and Full HD 1080pvideo streaming. OcuSync uses a more effective digital compressiontechnology and channel transmission technology, allowing it to transmitHD video reliably even in environment environments with strong radiointerference. Compared to the traditional Analog Transmission, OcuSynccan transmit video at 720p and 1080p, equal to an image quality increaseof 4-10 times without colour casts, static interference, flickering orother problems associate with analog transmission. Even when using thesame amount of radio transmission power, OcuSync’s transmission distanceis further than analog at 4.1mi (7km).

No Bumps and Scrapes
Detectingobstacles requires getting information about the obstacle to the Mavic.Ultrasonic and TOF sensors measure distance by detecting the firstreflected wave. In other words, they can only measure the distance from asingle point, instead of getting a 3D depth image of an obstacle.Another method of creating a depth image is structured light projection.In this, a structured light sensor projects infrared in a specificshape onto an obstacle in front of it. The infrared reflects back andthe sensor then calculates the strength of the reflected signal so thatit can create a 3D depth image of the obstacle. However, due to thelimited strength of infrared and interference from visible light, themaximum sensing distance for a structured light sensor is only 3 to 5meters. It is also ineffective in bright light significantly reducingits reliability and effectiveness on a sunny day.

As the Mavicflies, dual forward and downward vision sensors measure the distancebetween itself and obstacles by taking photos from all four cameras andusing the information to create a 3D map that tells it exactly whereobstacles are. The dual forward and downward vision sensors requirevisible light to function, and can see as far as 49ft (15m) in front inbright light.

Precision Hover
Satellitepositioning can only help a drone hover in an unobstructed outdoor areafree of interference. Without satellites, the drone will not be able toposition and become susceptible to drifting. However, with forward anddownward vision sensors, the Mavic can hover precisely indoors or inplaces without GPS.

Stay Flying Longer
TheMavic is only 1/6th the size of the Phantom 4 but this reduction in sizedoesn't mean a reduction in flight time. The Mavic actually flies muchlonger than you would expect from its compact size. It is capable ofreaching an absolute max flight time of 30 minutes and a maximumdistance of 8mi (13km) plus reach speeds of 40mph (64kph) thanks to itspowerful, high efficiency motors.

4K Ultra HD
This4K camera uses core technologies found in all DJI cameras. It isequipped with a 1/2.3 inch CMOS image sensor, commonly found inprofessional sport cameras, and an aerial imaging optimized integratedlens with an equivalent focal length of 28mm. this allows the camera toprovide smooth 4K video at 30fps, 1080P video at 96fps and 12 megapixelphotos.

Photos with Altitude
Every photo youtake with the Mavic can be as big as 12 megapixels. Combined with animage sensor that has been expertly tuned for aerial images, all youneed to do is find the perfect subject. You can even flip the camera 90°for portrait oriented shots, just like you do with your phone. If youare as concerned about editing as you are about composition, you cancapture every photo in Adobe DNG RAW to give you all the editing poweryou need to turn any photo into a work of art.

ActiveTrack Technology
ActiveTrackuses deep learning, computer vision and advanced autonomous flightstrategies to make complex, creative shots as simple as possible withjust a tap. No GPS bracelets, no transmitters. The Mavic has beentrained to detect and recognize a number of common subjects includingpeople, bike riders, vehicles and even animals. Once you have markedyour subject, you can fly around them to create a huge variety of shotsdepending on the mode you are in. Choose from Trace, Profile orSpotlight, to give every scene you shoot that professional touch. As theMavic is tracking, you can even select exactly where you want them inthe frame, for more control over your final shot.

Tripod Mode
TripodMode drops the Mavic’s maximum speed to just 2.2mph (3.6kph), and thecontrol stick sensitivity of the remote controller is dulled to give youthe precision you need for accurate framing. It is also great forflying indoors in small spaces where the Mavic’s normal speed may makeit more challenging to fly.

Fly By Phone
Sometimesa phone is all you need to fly. Not only does the Mavic support flyingon your phone with Virtual Joysticks, but you also have full access toall of its Intelligent Flight Modes — TapFly, Trace, Spotlight, Profileand Circle. Using just your phone, you can capture photos and video soincredible, that no one will believe you did it by tapping a screen!

Withintelligent vision technology, Mavic is very smart. Tap a point on thescreen, Mavic will fly towards that point directly; if you tap anotherpoint, it will smoothly turn to the new destination. In TapFly, Mavic’sonboard obstacle sensing systems are constantly scanning in front of it,keeping it away from any obstructions, freeing you up to admire theview.

2 Sensors
In flight, the Mavic uses itscompass to tell it where it is heading and the Inertial MeasurementUnit (IMU) to tell it how it is flying. An interruption in the data flowfrom either of these may cause it to fly less reliably, which is whythe Mavic has not one, but two of each. Whenever the system detects aninconsistency in one, it switches to the other, keeping your flightsteady and reliable.

Auto Level
When you areflying over changing terrain, like following bikers riding uphill, theMavic’s Terrain Follow function uses height information gathered by theonboard ultrasonic system, and its downward facing cameras to keep youflying at the same height above the ground even as the ground moves.Just set the height from the ground you want — from 9ft (0.3m) to 33ft(10m) — and focus on getting the right shot.

Safer Smarter Batteries
TheMavic’s Intelligent Flight Batteries give it a flight time of up to 27minutes, allowing you to check battery level and status in real-timeduring flight through the DJI GO app. It also calculates remainingflight time, helping pilots fly more safely.

DJIGO is your Mavic’s control centre. When your phone or device isconnected to the Mavic, it shows you everything the camera sees in nearreal-time, so you can set up and frame every shot as if you are actuallythere. It also gives you full manual camera controls for photos andvideos, including ISO, shutter and file format. It even lets you finetune your Mavic so that it flies exactly how you want it to.

What should I do prior to my first flight?
Readall the literature provided and go onto the following website for ʻoutof the box set upʼ and ʻfirst flightʼ instruction. Check that allelectrical connections, rotors, screws, nuts and bolts are all connectedproperly. We highly recommend the use of propeller guards. Check forany firmware updates before any planned flight.

What is the first flight I should take?
Thefirst flights should be training flights to familiarize the pilot withthe controls. DJI Phantom supplies an exercise book that provides anumber of exercises. These should be conducted in open areas, away fromobstacles and people.

Can I fly my Phantom by myself?
Forrecreational purposes Transport Canada requires that the UAV is alwaysin sight and flies no higher than 400m. Keep in mind the pilot will alsobe checking their monitor so it is advisable to have a second personwho can have eyes on the UAV at all times.

Can I fly my UAV indoors?
No, there will is no GPS hook up and controlling the unit in indoors environment is very difficult.

What do I need for a safe flight?
Makesure that the UAV has GPS connectivity and has locked on to multiplesatellites. Be aware that flying near structures such as buildings andtrees can interfere with the satellite signal. Also be aware that yourUAV cannot detect these structures so fly with caution and always haveeyes on the UAV.

Who is responsible if my UAV crashes or gets lost?
The pilot/operator is 100% responsible for all damages and loss of the unit.
